Biography

Sonia Juan is an industrial engineer, currently pursuing a master’s degree in Technology Development, and a consultant specializing in economic regulation. She is currently working as a project manager at Quantum and holds an official PMP certification issued by the American institute PMI.

Since 2011, she has worked in the regulatory consulting sector for public services in the fields of electricity, natural gas, water and sanitation, and urban public transport in various countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Peru, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, Ecuador, Mozambique, and Vietnam.

She has actively participated in all stages of comprehensive tariff review studies for regulatory agencies and service providers; analysis of the economic-financial balance of concession contracts; development of financial and simulation models; definition of regulatory frameworks; analysis and definition of the regulatory remuneration base of concessionaires; privatization processes of public service concessionaires; load characterization campaigns; studies on the quality of electricity service; Research and Development (R&D) projects in Service Quality and Natural Gas SWAP; tariff review of power plants; definition of efficient operating costs; design of tariff structures; development of an online tool for determining the economic and financial viability of natural gas projects; feasibility evaluation of energy generation projects, and specialized consultancy.

As a project manager, her standout participations include projects such as the development of a methodology for tariff review and adjustment of basic sanitation concessionaires; determination of the value of the Regulatory Asset Base for concessionaires in all sectors; calculation of the Annual Permitted Revenues for electric power transmission companies; development of a Technical and Economic Feasibility Study Model for Natural Gas and research studies on the exchange (SWAP) of natural gas.

She has also been a speaker at numerous in-company training sessions for public service companies and regulatory agencies across Latin America.

Her main passions involve creating simulation models, researching and applying new technologies, developing efficient systems, and seeking to maximize benefits to contribute to society’s well-being and sustainable development.

Previously, she worked in the area of CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software implementation in Prague, Czech Republic.
