Optimizing Public Services: The Power of Benchmarking in Latin America

Comparative efficiency studies (Benchmarking) provide valuable information to companies, investors, users, and regulators. Their main goal is to estimate cost efficiency, both globally and by processes, of companies within a specific industry. To achieve this, mathematical and econometric techniques are employed to estimate the efficiency frontiers of the industry. Additionally, this analysis is complemented by calculating a wide range of relevant indicators to define improvement goals in various areas of the company.

Quantum has a robust international database that includes companies from across Latin America in the public utilities sector (Natural Gas, Electricity, and Water).

This facilitates comparison and analysis over different periods of time. To assess performance and set improvement goals in productivity, comparison with other companies with similar characteristics is often used.

Benchmarking is a fundamental tool in this process, as it allows for the definition and calculation of performance, cost, and financial indicators through the use of visualization tools such as PowerBi, which help identify and evaluate the relative efficiency of each company in the database sample.
