Biography
Maria Angélica is an Electrical Engineer specializing in Corporate Finance. With extensive experience in the Brazilian electric sector, she has worked on topics involving discussions on regulatory and tariff methodologies for electricity distribution companies. She began her career at CPFL Energia, contributing to modeling, calculations, and discussions in Aneel’s process for reviewing Regulatory Operating Costs methodology, which included simulation practices and handling of the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) methodology, aimed at optimizing revenue for the group’s distribution companies. She also participated in the sectoral review of the Factor X methodology, specifically in the productivity component. Additionally, she followed sector discussions and public participation processes on various regulations and methodological proposals related to the regulation of electric power distribution services.
Her professional experience also includes work at EDP Energias, focused on the distribution sector, where she participated in key discussions such as the methodology for DEC and FEC continuity limits for consumer unit sets, the Regulatory Remuneration Base (BRR), Technical Losses, and Regulatory Operating Costs, as well as specific topics like the Energy Development Account (CDE).
She has also closely followed discussions on the modernization of the electric sector, with a focus on the impact on the distribution sector, and worked on developing EDP SP’s R&D project proposal for the first call of the Tariff Sandbox. This project aims to experiment with differentiated tariff modalities for Low Voltage (LV) consumers to support the development of a sustainable tariff structure for modernizing the electric sector. Currently, she is a senior consultant at Quantum.
